Arsenal FC star Thomas Partey arrived on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Swiss Spirits Alisa Hotel in Accra to assume his role as captain of the Black Stars.
Partey, 30, was announced as captain of the team by head coach Otto Addo on Wednesday during a meet-the-press session where he named the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana will take on tricky sides in Mali and the Central African Republic on June 7 and 10.
He takes over from Andre Ayew, who was not named in the squad for the crucial matches after missing Ghana’s first two Group I games due to injury.
