In Ghanaian traditional settings, when a married couple has a problem and it is brought to the chief’s palace, the wife is usually considered to be at fault because it is improper to chastise the husband in public, said lawyer Frimpong Anokye on the Max Morning Show on Wednesday, August 30.
He claimed that when two siblings disagree and the matter ends up in the chief palace, the smaller sibling is usually blamed; but, once the dispute has been resolved, the elder sibling is given advice in private. It is improper to place a wife over a husband or a younger sibling over an older sibling while resolving a disagreement in front of others.
