The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a change in the host country for the 45th CAF General Assembly. Originally scheduled to take place in Benin, the Assembly will now be held in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire. This change was made due to the unavailability of a suitable venue in Cotonou following a visit by CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba.
The decision to select a new host country took into consideration CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s statement regarding the rotation of hosting CAF competitions and events across the six CAF zones. The aim was to ensure that the chosen venue maintains the quality and world-class infrastructure required for CAF events.
After evaluating the hotels, infrastructure, and facilities of several proposed venues, the CAF Secretariat settled on Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire as the host for the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly. The Assembly is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Sofitel Hotel Abidjan, starting at 10:00 local time.
Despite the change in venue, the agenda and resolutions that were planned for the 45th CAF Ordinary General Assembly will not be affected. The change was necessitated by circumstances beyond CAF’s control, but it will not impact the proceedings of the Assembly.
