The Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, received a visit from Medeama SC on Wednesday at the Manhyia Palace in advance of their CAF Champions League match on Friday against CR Belouizdad.
The Westerners sought the blessings of the King of the Ashanti land, where they’d play their North African rivals.
The Ghanaian champions, who lost to the defending champions Al Ahly on Saturday, hope to bounce back from a dismal start to their campaign. They are expected to face stiff competition from CR Belouizdad, who defeated Yanga SC and present a formidable challenge.
The King, who is well-known for his love of football, gave Medeama a cordial welcome and urged them to represent Ghana with pride in the competition. He conveyed confidence in the team’s ability to defeat their opponents and offered his best wishes for their success.
