Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, the former head of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], has called with the Black Stars players to demonstrate zeal and desire against Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoff games.
The two West African powerhouses will compete for a spot in the Mundial, which will be held in Qatar later this year.
The Black Stars, four-time African champions, will face the Super Eagles in the first leg match on Friday, March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
With the squad aiming to qualify for the World Cup for the fourth time after missing out on the previous edition in Russia, the Hearts of Oak board member has pushed the players to make sacrifices in order to qualify.
He believes that if the players approach the game with a desire to win, they will receive the necessary backing from the country.
“This game is not about the Ghana Football Association or the technical team, it is about the players,” he said .
“The players must be prepared to die on the pitch against Nigeria. We know what goes into such games.
“I don’t know any of the players but I believe when they show on the pitch that they are ready to sacrifice, they will surely the support from Ghanaians,” he added.
The rematch will take place in the Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29.
Ghana has begun training in Kumasi, and the team will exercise today and tomorrow before the game on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles got to town on Thursday.
